Not Given a Spirit of Fear

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” ~ 2 Timothy 1:7 ~ Fear. It keeps women from attending retreat. It keeps women from a close relationship with their Heavenly Father. It keeps women who have come to retreat and have heard the truth from living life to the full.

It may be fear of the unknown, fear of rejection, fear of intimacy, fear of being out of control, or fear that if they can't forgive themselves, how could a God they can't see ever forgive them.

No matter the source of fear, it's all the same. It is conquerable. In the name of Jesus, we have the authority to drive out all fear.

Satan loves to stir up fear. It's one of his greatest weapons against us. Along with lies and deception, he uses fear to try to cripple us and steal away the life God gave us and called us to live.

But, to quote the movie After Life, "Danger is very real, but fear is a choice."

Yes, the danger is very real. Attacks of the enemy will come. But we don't have to choose fear. We have offensive and defensive weapons in the Armor of God. We are not defenseless or powerless against fear. But we must choose to put on our armor every day. We must choose to fight. Choose to live for eternity. It's not bad to feel fear. But don't live your life from a place of fear.

So how do we combat fear?

Call on the name of Jesus. Anytime you speak His name, the enemy can’t stay in the presence of Christ. Use the Word of God. When the enemy comes at you with fear, combat it with Scripture and declare, out loud, that you were not given a spirit of fear. Fast and pray. Ask God to help you accept the power, love, and sound mind He promises you.

You have authority over fear through Jesus, and in Him, you are more than a conquerer. It is our prayer that you would choose to live as though you know this is true. Choose freedom from fear.

In His love,

Mikal Denny
